King Edward VII Professor of English Literature: Cambridge University

As happened to ther famous writers – for example, Trollope & Hardy – Q almost disappeared from the public scene soon after his death. Few of his books are available in print yet his influence as having been immense – in both the academic world [for example with The Art of Writing] as well as popular fiction [as mentor to Daphne du Maurier].

However, a “Q Revival” has begun! The aim is that he should be both the focus of literary research and become well known again to the general reader for his novels and short stories.

Scholars of literature in Cornwall – including some of the English Department at the University of Exeter campus in Cornwall at Tremough – are evaluating currently available archival resources with a view to their use in future research.

To introduce readers to a selection of his works, a “Q Reader” is planned for publication is in preparation. A collection of papers about Q (draft title ‘Views on Q’) is also being prepared, more details in Updates

A DVD of Q’s life and his broad influence on all things Cornish has been published by the Q Memorial Fund and is available online at this link.
