Trinity College, Oxford, OX1 3BH: Q’s undergraduate college
A very large collection of his papers was presented to the college by Mr. Guy Symondson, Q’s great-nephew.
Included are manuscripts of most of his published novels, shorter fiction, verse, drama, lectures and essays [not all of which were published]. One separate section is called “Cornish Writings” and there is also a wide variety of miscellaneous items listed as “related to Q” and “on Q”.
Researchers are welcome to use this Trinity College Archive, which is normally open to readers by appointment on Thursdays. Applications should be made to the archivist by email: archive@trinity.ox.ac.uk – or for information visit the web page, www.trinity.ox.ac.uk.
Jesus College, Jesus Lane, Cambridge, CB5 8BL: where Q was a Fellow when King Edward VII Professor of English Literature at Cambridge.
The Jesus College Archives (reference:Quiller-Couch) include a collection of “A.T. Quiller-Couch Letters and Memorabilia” and F. Brittain’s “ Collection of Quiller-Couch letters” . In the latter collection are 80 letters (dated between 1915 and 1940) to H.F. Stewart D.D., Fellow of Trinity, a close personal friend who assisted greatly in the establishment of the English Tripos. Also held are some photographs and an extensive collection of his publications (part of the Jesuan Collection)..

As well as a library of the works of Q, there is an archive of material relating to Q, the Couch family and West Cornwall in general. Included are writings, reports & papers relating to Dr. Richard Quiller Couch & Dr. John Quiller Couch of Penzance (Q’s uncles).as well other members of the family – including a selection of the writings of Dr. Jonathan Couch of Polperro.
Andrew Symons directs Q research at the library and can be contacted through the library ( Tuesday to Friday: 10.00 am – 4.00 pm and Saturday 10.00am -1.00 pm)
